]]>And so the 2024 awards season has officially begun…
Last night, Hollywood stars descended upon the iconic Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills for the 81st annual Golden Globe awards. Stars like Margot Robbie dazzled in sequined Giorgio Armani Privé (channeling Barbie, because what else?), Taylor Swift shone bright in custom lime green Gucci while the living legend that is Meryl Streep walked the red carpet in a shimmering Dolce & Gabbana floor-length skirt and jacket. Selena Gomez had somewhat of a mini Marilyn Monroe moment before the lens of the paparazzi, wearing a ruby red dress and the even the warm Los Angeles wind understood the assignment when Hunter Schafer arrived in custom translucent Prada. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lopez nailed old-school Hollywood glamour while Elle Fanning took deep in the Balmain archives to unearth and revive a vintage Pierre Balmain dress.
Needless to say, the 2024 Golden Globe Awards proved to be an absolute fashion extravaganza and we here at theFashionSpot have curated the must-see looks of the night. Scroll further our selection:

]]>The post Margot Robbie, Jodie Foster & Others Front W Magazine’s Best Performances Issue for 2024 appeared first on theFashionSpot.
]]>As editor of W Magazine, Sara Moonves has made the magazine’s ‘Best Performances’ issues into a bit of a thing. Since 2021 when the annual edition first made its official appearance, issues have been photographed by an array of celebrated photographers including Juergen Teller, Tim Walker and Jamie Hawkesworth. Moonves welcomes back Teller with open arms for W‘s 2024 portfolio, bestowing upon us an assortment of 13 covers featuring a whole bevy of A-list talent. In each of the covers Margot Robbie, Nicolas Cage, Greta Lee, Zac Efron, Natalie Portman, Colman Domingo, Jodie Foster, Ryan Gosling, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Julianne Moore, Lily Gladstone, Charles Melton and Robert Downey Jr. pose before Teller’s lens around various different Hollywood locations.
“Honestly, not sure what to think of these…” shared Ivancica the moment the covers dropped.
“These are all depressing to look at. Juergen even managed to make Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling look lifeless,” chimed in gunsnroses.
Also left severely disappointed was forum member lookatme, commenting: “Tragic. This kind of photography and concept is so embarrassing. OMG SO QUIRKED UP! THEY’RE IN A TRASHY SOUVENIR SHOP! HE’S HOLDING A LOBSTER! OMG!”
Xone felt the same way: “Teller needs a better direction, there is nothing interesting here – too pretentious!”
“These best performances issues by Juergen Teller (and everyone else) are the absolute worst when it comes to Sara Moonves’ W Magazine! Not one, not ONE redeeming cover and this is one of those occasions in which I cannot abide Teller’s photography or aesthetic. Major… UGH!” ranted vogue28.
See all 13 covers and share your fave (if you even have a favorite) over on theFashionSpot forums, here.

]]>The post The Red Carpet Highlights of the 2022 Cannes International Film Festival appeared first on theFashionSpot.
]]>After skipping 2020 and scaling back for 2021 due to the pandemic, the 2022 Cannes International Film Festival is back in full force. Which is great for us since it usually produces fashion moments on par with the Met Gala and the Oscars. Although we have to admit, a decent amount of looks were relatively lackluster.
When it comes to designers, certain ones reigned supreme. We witnessed several dresses from Valentino’s Fall 2022 offering, aka the pink collection, take to the red carpet. Sharon Stone stuck with Dolce & Gabbana probably because she stars in the Italian fashion house’s new handbag campaign. As usual, there were plenty of haute couture looks to go around. Fendi, Armani Privé, Elie Saab, Christian Dior and Chanel are just a small sampling. Custom creations were also trending with Cara Delevingne’s revealing Balmain gown one of the standouts.
The jewelry was also something to behold. Especially when it came to necklaces. Julianne Moore’s Bottega Veneta dress was amplified by Bulgari’s Eden The Garden of Wonders necklace, for example.
On the beauty front, hair really turned heads. Bella Hadid’s wet-look hairdo with sculpted strands in the middle of her forehead really made a statement. As did Grace Elizabeth’s piecey pixie.
Keep reading to see all the must-see looks from the premieres at the 2022 Cannes International Film Festival.

]]>The post Must-See Looks From the 2022 Met Gala appeared first on theFashionSpot.
]]>After skipping 2020 and scaling back a bit in 2021, we expected the 2022 Met Gala to really bring the drama. Not to mention the fashion. Thankfully, we aren’t disappointed.
Continuing the theme of “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” there was plenty of gilded glamour. There were corsets, structured skirts and opera gloves galore. But there were several stars who either downright ignored the theme or tried to put a modern spin on it. For example, Janelle Monáe’s Ralph Lauren look was a futuristic interpretation.
We spotted a surprising amount of cut-out accents. We were also taken aback by the sheer volume of see-through sections. (See what we did there?) Kim Kardashian certainly turned heads decked out in Marilyn Monroe’s iconic Jean Louis dress.
Both Blake Lively and Sydney Sweeney did an outfit reveal on the red carpet. The former rocked two Atelier Versace creations that paid tribute to the Statue of Liberty. The latter transformed her Tory Burch gown into a minidress.
Suits were also popular. Cara Delevingne, Irina Shayk and Chloë Grace Moretz all stepped out in striking style. It was actually a welcome contrast to all the dynamic dresses.
It’s definitely worth your time to scroll down to see all the crazy, sexy and totally cool looks from the 2022 Met Gala.

“Bella’s cover looks nice and I like how they cleverly turned their logo into the word vote,” Urban Stylin chimed in. Also liking what they saw was aracic: “Such a great set of covers with so many great stars (and many personal faves)…” “My favorite is Janelle Monáe, she really uplifts the whole mood, followed by Bella, Chris and Mariah,” commented FashionMuseDior. Not everyone was happy with the covers, though. “I’m sorry, half these people are not ‘thought leaders’ and make this cringe-worthy,” called out BlueRuin. “Most of these people are not who I would consider thought leaders,” agreed Mercury6181.The post V Magazine Encourages Readers to Vote With Its Winter 2020 Covers appeared first on theFashionSpot.
]]>The post Julianne Moore Wears Vintage Tom Ford for Gucci on InStyle’s Fabulous September 2019 Cover appeared first on theFashionSpot.
]]>There’s no escaping InStyle right now, largely due to the fact Laura Brown is propelling the magazine to new heights with each and every issue. Brown’s passion for print is apparent with the publication featuring the likes of Janelle Monáe and the cast of Big Little Lies in recent months. So we aren’t at all surprised to see Brown going over the top for InStyle‘s monumental 25th anniversary issue for September 2019 by picking Julianne Moore for the cover. Photographed by Phil Poynter, stylist Karla Welch opted out of dressing the actress in an outfit from one of the Fall 2019 collections in favor of a classic look from Tom Ford’s legendary Fall 1995 collection for Gucci, proving a silk blouse is always in fashion.
The cover was praised by (most of) our forum members. “Fabulous cover! It’s quite eye-catching and well executed. Even if I don’t think we need that excessive nostalgia over Tom Ford for Gucci…but it works. I’ve never been a fan of that collection, but I need glamour right now,” approved Lola701.
“I love all of this. And from InStyle? I’m floored,” confessed lelaid.
“Oh yes, totally my cup of tea!” declared Nymphaea.

“Bravo to Laura Brown because this feels like the perfect solution to a 25th anniversary issue, being the perfect mix of both nostalgia and commercialism! Julianne Moore looks fantastic on the cover, love that she’s wearing vintage Tom Ford for Gucci and the voluminous hair from Serge Normant,” voiced vogue28.
For the rest of our members, the cover had one MAJOR flaw. “The Photoshop is ridiculous and Hung Vanngo needs to stop. This is a stunning 58-year-old woman that doesn’t need to receive the blow-up doll treatment,” called out SophiaVB.
Miss Dalloway felt the same way: “Jesus! Did they also take her in the time machine and go back 25 years? Keep this BS if you can’t let someone like Moore look her age, the airbrushing on her face is SHAMEFUL!”
“Every time I see Julianne Moore’s name on a thread, I cringe. Her face has been Photoshopped so many times, I’m surprised she still has a face. She has no freckles, her skin is alabaster perfection, that of a 17-year-old Norwegian milkmaid,” echoed dfl-001.
Photoshop disaster or pure perfection? See what else InStyle has to offer and join the conversation here.
